How to Reach Sakleshpur from Bangalore (Drive, Train & Bus)

4 min read

Sakleshpur is roughly 240 km from Bengaluru — close enough for a weekend, scenic enough to enjoy the journey. Here’s how to get there.

By car (recommended)

The easiest route is via NH-75 through Hassan — about 5–6 hours depending on traffic and breaks. The road is good, and the last stretch into the Ghats is beautiful. A self-drive or cab gives you the freedom to explore safaris, viewpoints and waterfalls once you arrive.

By train

Sakleshpur has its own railway station on the Bangalore–Mangalore line, and the descent through the Ghats is one of the most scenic rail journeys in South India. Trains can be limited, so check schedules in advance; many travellers train to Hassan and drive the last leg.

By bus

KSRTC and private operators run regular buses from Bangalore to Sakleshpur and Hassan. It’s the budget option; you’ll still want local transport for sightseeing once there.

Tip: arrive by check-in

Check-in is 1:00 PM. Leaving Bangalore by early morning gets you in comfortably for lunch and an afternoon by the pool or a sunset safari. Plan your dates here.
